Have you claimed your grant through the Self Employment Income Support Scheme yet?
The Government of the United Kingdom is taking all measures to support the population in these unprecedented times.
The COVID19 pandemic has adversely effected, the capacity of people to carry on with their daily work. The government had initially announced the furlough scheme for employees, which was not valid for the large gig economy of the United Kingdom. Hence the government announced a grant named the ‘Self Employment Income Support Scheme’ for all the self-employed and members of partnerships.
You can claim your first grant on or before the 13th of July, 2020 if you are eligible. The amount you can receive is the sum of 80% of average monthly profits for the previous three months up to a maximum of £7,500. You can claim a second grant if your work is still affected by COVID19 on or after the 14th of July, 2020. The amount receivable is 70% of average monthly profits for three months up to £6,570 in total. You are eligible to both grants, if:
– You were self-employed (or a member of a partnership) during the two last tax years (2018-2019 and 2019-2020), and you plan to continue to do so for the next tax year (2020-2021).
-If your work has been negatively affected by COVID19. For example, a fewer number of clients, your staff couldn’t come to work, or your supply chain has been hit.
